The end-time Christian and Esther

Lessons from the book of Esther

Here are three bible verses that can help us understand one of the lessons we can learn from the life of this queen:

“Happy are you, whenever people may reproach you, and may persecute, and may say any evil thing against you falsely for my sake – rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in the heavens, for thus did they persecute the prophets who were before you.” – Matthew 5:11, 12 (YLT)

Esther 3.13

According to 1 Corinthiens 10.11, bible stories are written for us, especially for us – because we live in the endtimes.

A. W. Tozer said: “The heart’s fierce effort to protect itself from every slight, to shield its touchy honor from the bad opinion of friend and enemy, will never let the mind have rest. Continue this fight through the years and the burden will become intolerable” (The pursuit of God, p. 106).

“If and when we do suffer persecution, then, in our faithful endeavor to be Christlike, we should remember the ancient prophets and thousands of believers before us who have been mistreated, even to the point of death.” (1)

“God’s true prophets were maligned, beaten, and sometimes put to death. Therefore, we should not regard persecution as something strange.” (2)

We are invited to “discover that it is only in Jesus Christ that we find the happiness that ends the search for the one thing we were made for and desperately need – unconditional love and regard. He wants us to absorb this gift, to own it, to let it pervade our very being as does the blood in our veins and the breath in our nostrils. Then we will be happy believers – even in the face of the severest persecution.” (3)

Please note that one day, there will be a similar situation to the one described in the book of Esther: All true Christians will find that their life is under threat. The lesson we can learn is that just as in ancient times, God will protect his people (see Esther 8:8). In the darkest hour, Jesus Christ himself will appear in the clouds of heaven to save his people!
